Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Investigations Officer is to lead and conduct background investigations of applicants for positions with Las Vegas Sands Corporate departments and Sands Digital Services. The Officer will also assist with corporate investigations, badging, access control, surveillance reviews, Emergency Response planning, the Business Continuity Management Program, and other special projects as assigned. 

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures. All Las Vegas Sands Corp. Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct background investigations for employment and write clear and concise reports of the findings. 

• Conduct ongoing monitoring of the background of existing team members

• Perform internal investigations as requested by management. 

• Assist with special projects within the Security Department as needed.

• Assist with badging, access control and surveillance reviews.

• Coordinate effective, timely and efficient handling of workload to assure that deadlines are met.

• Maintain professional skills by staying abreast of current developments and participating in developmental programs available within and outside the company.

• Maintain effective relationships through liaison with Law Enforcement and business partners. 

• Conducts investigations of criminal activity and team member conduct and interview suspects, victims and witnesses.

• Ensure that required records and files are maintained and reviewed on a regular basis for compliance purposes.

• Ensure that compiling of evidence and dissemination of information to external sources is in compliance with established policies and procedures.

• Conduct surveillance reviews relative to specific incidents, accidents or general occurrences.

• Performs other tasks/assignments as directed by the Vice President of Corporate Security or delegated authority.

• Perform job duties in a safe manner.

• Attend work as scheduled on a consistent and regular basis.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.

• Proof of authorization to work in the United States.

• Bachelors degree in criminal justice, forensic science or social science preferred.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy. 

• 5+ years of professional background investigations or surveillance experience preferred.

• Prior experience conducting investigations with an emphasis on background investigations for employment. 

• Comprehensive knowledge of Investigative techniques and procedures with a demonstrated ability to investigate incidents and interview witnesses.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyze investigative material and write concise and factual reports.

• Familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement.

• Ability to react professionally and rationally to emergency and pressure situations.

• Knowledge of general first aide and CPR.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact appropriately with management, other Team Members and outside contacts of different backgrounds and levels of experience.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to:

• Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.

• Physically access assigned workspace areas with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Work remotely as necessary

• Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, and dust.

• Utilize laptop and standard keyboard to perform essential functions of the job.
