Let's start with the role

The purpose of the role is twofold. Firstly, to support the compliance team in analyzing legal and regulatory compliance requirements and performing internal activities in order to:

• Provide legal  advice and ensure regulatory compliance;
• Enable understanding of the regulatory landscape and spread it out entity-wide from top management to daily operations; 
• Provide solutions & identify opportunities that support local and international business development;
• Promote and support strategic and business priorities from a legal and  regulatory compliance perspective; and ii) Secondly, to provide legal support for Betano operations in Romania. by  liaising with our external local legal advisor/s as well as Kaizen’s Legal in-house Team members on various day-to-day business legal matters with emphasis on contract law and company/corporate law related legal assignments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain legal and regulatory compliance by researching and communicating requirements, creating action plans and obtaining approvals by the regulatory body in Romania; 
• Accurately and timely advise management and company executives and supports them on arising day to day legal matters of Kaizen’s local operations in Romania;
• Draft, review, and modify agreements, contracts, MOUs, LOIs, statements and various other documents of legal nature to safeguard and protect the Group’s legal rights and business interests; 
• Handle litigation and represent Kaizen Group’s companies  before local Romanian courts, tribunals and national authorities; 
• Develop and support regulatory policies after consulting with internal and external stakeholders and incorporating future trends and current facts;
• Liaise with local external legal counsel, as well asIndependent Regulatory Authorities, Law enforcement agencies, governmental and non-governmental authorities, etc., including providing formal responses to said authorities when deemed necessary;
• Conduct risk assessments and internal audits with regards to legal and regulatory compliance requirements on operational, technical, and support processes;
• Facilitate compliance audits performed by regulatory authorities;
• Spread the compliance culture throughout the company by training and other means. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Law;     
• Valid license to practice law in Romania;     
• Relevant experience of 3-7 years in gaming compliance, or other heavily regulated industry;
• Experience in managing regulatory requirements and interfacing with regulators;
• At least 3-4 years of proven legal experience of working in a law firm or a Tech/GameTech/FinTech or other similar business scope company;
• Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment;
• Analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks;
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels;
• Tech orientation and passion for innovation and the industry are a strong plus
• Fluency in English and Romanian.

Nice to have

• Graduate/ postgraduate degree in Finance/ Business/ Political Science would be a strong plus.
