Job Description:

The Institute for Oral History seeks a student to assist with developing content and promoting Waco History, an app and website devoted to the history of Waco and McLennan County (www.wacohistory.org). The candidate will familiarize themselves with the collections of the Institute for Oral History and the Texas Collection to compile historic images, oral histories, and well-researched, place-based narratives for the project. Some familiarity with audio or photo editing is helpful but not required. Under appropriate supervision, the student will be responsible for fulfilling a wide variety of tasks.

Responsibilities: The specific duties of this student may include:
•Researching, writing, and editing content for the Waco History platform.
•Selecting and excerpting oral history recordings for use on Waco History.
•Identifying historic images from the Texas Collection and other repositories to enrich platform entries.
•Assisting in promoting the app and website through social media.
•Helping with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Ability to work with limited supervision and to demonstrate initiative and good decision-making within the assigned area. Must be detailed-oriented, an experienced user of Microsoft Word and Excel, and possess good research and writing skills.
