Position Specific Description

At NextEra Energy, our employees are committed to providing clean and low-cost energy, and are optimistic for North America’s energy future. In this role you would directly impact our goal of aggressively new renewable power generation.

In this position you will lead Development projects in the South and East region, from beginning to end, including overseeing cross functional teams across the NextEra Energy Resources organization. You will be working with leadership within Development, in order to drive development efforts directly impacting NextEra Energy’s bottom line. Beyond the requirements below, you will also be responsible for presenting your projects and updates to Development leadership, and providing your input and expertise on a daily basis to Subject Matter Experts as the project leader of a collaborative and dynamic team.

You will travel across our sites to gain expertise in the region, the local community, and the project area. Your stewardship will include:

  • External stakeholder alignment to progress key project agreements
  • Leading cross-functional teams, including Resource Evaluation, Environmental, Engineering & Construction, Marketing & Communications, Regulatory, Real Estate, Finance, Transmission, and Commercial
  • Implementing project management principles and process design to optimize activity sequencing and delivery
  • Ensuring project meets financing requirements
  • Guiding early prospecting efforts in selecting suitable project sites

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed timely and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad/GED
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience:  3+ years
