POSITION SUMMARY 

Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a Software Architect to support the launch of a new business incubated within SCA. In this role, you will partner with our Product Manager in charge of consumer experience to design and build a consumer-facing web application. Reporting into the Director of Software Engineering, you will work with a talented and highly collaborative team of engineers, designers, data analysts, and product managers to create a best-in class product experience for our customers.   

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Design and build responsive, accessible, and performant web applications 

• Build and maintain UI Components in collaboration with our UX Design partners. 

• Collaborate closely with the product managers to scope and size new features, and offer solutions to our customer needs. 

• Assist with sprint planning by breaking up larger pieces of work into manageable tasks. 

• Assist with technology selection for our front-end platform, including JS framework, build tooling, CSS, and CMS. 

• Establish front-end coding standards and ensure they are followed by our development team 

• Perform code reviews for Sony software engineers, as well as our external development partners. 

• Participate in an on-call rotation with other engineers to provide support during production incidents and outages.   

• Assist Director of Software Engineering in conducting technical interviews for software engineering candidates. 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION 

Your qualifications and experience should include:  

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years building modern consumer-facing web applications 

• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Knowledge of Typescript is preferred. 

• Proficient in modern JS-based UI frameworks (React is preferred) and meta-frameworks (NextJS or Remix are preferred) 

• Proficiency with front-end build tooling (package managers, bundlers, transpilers) and unit-testing, and end-to-end testing frameworks. 

• Deep understanding of accessibility, and experience building WCAG-compliant web applications. 

• Experience working with either enterprise or headless Content Management Systems. 

• Understanding of common web security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) and how to prevent them.   

• Familiarity with native application development (iOS, Android and/or Cross-platform frameworks) is a plus.
