About the role

Job Description:

We are seeking an Occupational Health Registered Nurse to join our Easterseals NH & VT team! The individual in this key position will provide a variety of skilled nursing functions for Occupational Health to keep workers employees healthy and to prevent work-related injuries, provide direct care services to employees, case management of non-work and work-related incidents, host health promotion activities, and conduct comprehensive post-offer health questionnaires.

The Occupational Health Registered Nurse will conduct comprehensive pre-placement screenings on new hires and works with Occupational Health Team and Human Resources to ensure proper placement of new hire, administer first aid treatment and medications for minor illnesses, accidents, or complaints, refer cases to employee’s personal physician or hospital emergency department as needed. The RN will administer vaccinations and testing such as TB testing, Hepatitis B, Rubella, Rubeola, and Varicella vaccinations, evaluate and examine employees returning to work from a medical leave of absence to ensure employee has ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Councils employees on exposure issues and assists in follow-up treatment and testing per Infection Control policy.

  • Maintains documentation log of employees seen/treated and documents visits in medical file.

  • Oversee processing of medical respirator questionnaires and elevate to the Medical Director as needed. Performs fit testing.

  • Case manages non-occupational illness and injury, FMLA, and Medical leaves of absence.

  • Case manages COVID-19 cases.

  • Respond to employee inquiries via telephone and email.

  • Participate in new hire orientation as OHD representative on a rotating basis, and assist with annual health and wellness related trainings. 

  • Participate as a member of the Health, Benefits and Wellness HR Team and provide back up support as needed for vacations and large team projects.

  • Participate in the after-hours rotation for staff support.

  • Provides guidance and acts as point person for various medical accommodations processes and transitional work arrangements in collaboration with benefits department and employee supervisor.

  • Collaborates with Occupational Health Team as needed for full completion of case management of injured worker.

  • Collaborates with Occupational Health Team as needed for OSHA reporting.

  • Assess injured worker and process electronic record timely.

  • Works in direct partnership with injured employee, Worker’s Compensation, and Human Resources team to complete necessary case management paperwork.

  • Maintains relevant occupational injury/illness records per policy and HIPAA.

  • Assist with incident investigation, root cause identification, uncover patterns and trends in injury data and make recommendations to DIROHW.

  • Collaborate with DIROHW, Facilities, and Human Resources teams to develop and design controls for injury prevention related to potential hazards in the environment.

  • Assists in Wellness/Occupational Health clinics as delegated by Director.

  • Assists Director with development and revision of Standing Orders and Agency Policies and Procedures, as needed

  • Remain up to date with current standards of care, including all certifications, licenses, and registrations.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current state licensure

  • Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in an occupational health role preferred

  • Strong communication, verbal and written skills

  • Strong computer skills to include MS Excel and electronic calendaring

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Hours: This is a full-time, salaried role.

Compensation: Starting $76,960 annually. Additional compensation based upon experience and licensure.
