Our company’s Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO) organization is primarily responsible for executing late-stage clinical trials across therapeutic areas around the globe.

The Associate Director, Advanced Analytics will work with our partners across GCTO to help address critical business questions beyond simple descriptive or diagnostics dashboards and/or reports.  This individual will work independently and/or with a cross-functional team, consisting of subject-matter and technical experts, to define and execute data modelling processes to create algorithms, predictive models, and analysis related to clinical trial operations.​

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) and other business stakeholders to solve complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify & deliver innovative solutions.

  • Develop & execute advanced analytics that includes predictive, prescriptive, & machine learning/AI capabilities.

  • Build prototypes for early user validation.

  • Identifying and acquiring data based on business needs to enhance or complement current solutions/data sets.

  • Exploring novel methods of retrieving, blending, and organizing data to develop innovative solutions.

  • Ensure data science investments are maximized by data-driven initiatives, data quality and governance, data access, and tools

  • Interprets internal/ external business challenges and best practices to recommend improvements to products, processes, or services

  • Maintain knowledge of the competitive landscape and identifies areas of competitive differentiation

  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art innovations in data science from both academic and industry sources

  • Communicate applicable results and analysis to a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Leadership:

    • Leading analytics teams or projects; motivates junior team members; promotes the value of working together as a team and relationship building

    • Manages projects with moderate resource requirements, risk and/or complexity

The role must demonstrate appropriate our company Leadership Standards. Experienced with "getting things done" in a complex work environment is required.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, actuarial science, or relevant field, with: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 10 years of professional experience with at least 8 years in data wrangling, exploration/mining, statistical modelling and machine learning, at least one programming language – R/ Python, BI tools (i.e. Qlik, Microsoft Power BI, Spotfire), Software development lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Master’s degree with 7 years of professional experience with at least 5 in data wrangling, exploration/mining, statistical modelling and machine learning, at least one programming language – R/ Python, BI tools ( i.e. Qlik, Microsoft Power BI, Spotfire), Software development lifecycle (SDLC)

  • PhD with 3 years of professional experience with at least 1 in data wrangling, exploration/mining, statistical modelling and machine learning, at least one programming language – R/ Python, BI tools ( i.e. Qlik, Microsoft Power BI, Spotfire), Software development lifecycle (SDLC)

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in clinical development, clinical operations, or pharmaceuticals

Required Experience and Skills:

Advanced technical skills (8 yrs.) including:

  • Data wrangling, exploration/mining

  • Statistical modelling and machine learning

  • At least one programming language – R/ Python

  • BI tools ( i.e. Qlik, Microsoft Power BI, Spotfire)

  • Software development lifecycle (SDLC)

Advanced business/communication skills:

  • Use case development

  • Excellent presentation skills including storytelling

  • Familiarity with applicable data privacy practices and laws

  • Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative; high “figu
