Assistant Softball Coach- Incarnate Word High School

Description

Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic high school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks a part-time Assistant Softball Coach for the 2024-2025 school year. The school seeks to maintain a fully and authentically Catholic environment.  

REPORTS TO:

This position reports to the Athletic Director of Incarnate Word High School (IWHS).

POSITION SUMMARY:

Description of Job Duties

· Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport.

· Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.

· Assesses players skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of athletes.

· Assists with determining game strategy.

· Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competitions.

· Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.

· Models’ sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.

· Participates in special activities to include parents’ night, banquets, awards night and pep assemblies.

· Works with the athletic director with eligibility, equipment inventory and other related paperwork.

· Attends staff meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.

· Performs any other related duties as assigned by the principal and athletic director.

Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Possess effective coaching techniques and skills;
-Possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport;
-Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; 

-Understanding of the mission of Incarnate Word High School

-Successful completion of VIRTUS and background check

Required Education
High school diploma or its equivalent

Experience as a player of the sport;
 

Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of coaching experience assistant coach at the high school or college level
 

Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelors degree;
-Three (3) years coaching experience
