About the role

What You Can Expect

As our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technician I, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ENGIE’s BESS in the Fort Stockton, TX region. This field-based position will require frequent travel between two primary ENGIE facilities in West Texas and close coordination across departments to communicate updates, address technical issues, and support ongoing performance. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring optimal reliability and uptime of our assets by supporting both reactive and preventative maintenance efforts.

 

In this role, you’ll collaborate with internal teams and Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM) partners, as well as daily coordination with Remote Operations and Asset Management. You will serve as the on-site technical expert for ENGIE, ensuring systems operate efficiently by troubleshooting alarms and addressing performance deviations in real time.

 

Candidate must reside within 60 minutes of Fort Stockton, TX.

 

Reporting to the Area Lead Tech, your roles and responsibilities include:

 

  • Monitor and respond to system alarms, diagnose faults, and execute corrective maintenance to minimize system downtime
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of inverters, battery modules, switchgear, cooling systems, and other electrical components
  • Analyze data from the (BroadView) SCADA platform to identify trends, inefficiencies, or potential performance issues
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, OEMs, and EMS providers to coordinate maintenance schedules and warranty-related activities
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs—including understanding and documenting fault codes
  • Follow all ENGIE safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Use electrical test tools and standard maintenance equipment to perform technical evaluations and system upkeep: Multimeter, Insulated tools, LOTO Devices

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum high school diploma or technical certificate
  • Minimum of three (3) years of electrical experience or comparable industrial experience such as Power Sector Industry, Military experience working with diesel generators or power systems
  • Experience working with inverters
  • Understanding of electrical troubleshooting and energy systems, including basic understanding of voltage, current, temperature thresholds, and battery balancing
  • Effective communication and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and document activities accurately

 

 

Additional Details

  • This is a field position requiring regular travel to ENGIE site(s)
  • This role requires daily attendance at worksite
  • Must be available to travel (domestically) up to 25% of the time (and with the need for some overnight trips.) 
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • The position consists of 30% work indoors and 70% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs.

 

 

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $32.45 – $49.70 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
