Opportunity
As a Senior Developer Advocate Engineer, you’ll establish strong relationships with data engineers and engineers around the world in a scalable way, by crafting great resources to help developers build with Airbyte, including open-source demos, code samples, documentation, how-to guides, live demos, and hackathons. You’ll foster developer communities, championing their interests and translating their feedback into actionable product insights.

What You'll Do
- Partner closely with product and engineering: Support our feature launches with technical content to drive eyeballs to them, and strengthen Airbyte’s infrastructure reliability perception.
- Lead the technical content theme on “database replication”: Create deep technical content and sample projects addressing databases and their replications. Position Airbyte as the biggest thought leader on that topic.
- Support our meetup program in San Francisco: Collaborate closely with partners to bring interesting topics / speakers to our meetup group “Data Bytes”. We will host 2 practitioner-focused meetups per month on data engineering and AI engineering.
- Community and Partners Engagement: Engage with developer communities (including our own) and partners to collaborate on content, events, code contribution, talks, anything to drive adoption of Airbyte.
- Sample Project Development: Develop and maintain sample projects and ready-to-deploy full-fledged open-source quickstarts to showcase the potential and versatility of Airbyte, and help new users get started.
- Voice of the Community: Act as a liaison between the community and the Airbyte product team, ensuring that user feedback, concerns, and suggestions are heard, understood, and acted upon.
What You'll Need
- 3 years of experience in software engineering
- Passionate about developer relationships and advocacy.
- You have a working knowledge of databases, data platforms and developer tools like dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Airflow, or other data tools
- You have experience of writing code sample projects, demos, or tutorials.
- You have good knowledge of databases and database replication
- Experience of working within cross-functional teams (product management, marketing, product engineering, support, customer success, etc).
- Scrappy & has a mindset that done is better than perfect. Many of the community projects are early and will have shifts in direction.
- Creative, empathetic, communicative, and clever. Entrepreneurial.
- Confident and comfortable presenting to different types of audiences, large and small.
- Adept at communicating technically complicated topics simply and elegantly.
- Maintain a strong and credible presence in online platforms and social media channels relevant to developers.
- Able to work long hours and weekends to support short-term projects (when needed).
