We are pleased to announce an opening for a journeyman Missile Defense System (MDS) Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) Engineer within our Engineering Services Division in Huntsville, Alabama. You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team that helps the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) System Verification organization fulfill their mission to "increase confidence in the performance of the Missile Defense System by developing comprehensive test requirements and developing and executing the system engineering M&S processes, M&S Enterprise VV&A, and missile defense verification processes." In this role, you will help optimize key MDS models and simulations, including sensor and missile simulations, ensuring they are in peak condition to support MDS testing and experiments. Responsibilities:
As a M&S VV&A engineer, you will:
- Provide M&S accreditation recommendations to the Accreditation Authority by performing M&S VV&A to assess MDS effectiveness and interoperability for MDA intended uses.
- Perform M&S systems engineering/analysis to develop M&S System Requirements Documents (SRDs) that translate stakeholder M&S needs into system level M&S requirements in support of performance assessment of the MDS.
- Support the Director, System Verification, in the roles of MDA Verification and Validation (V&V) Agent and Accreditation Agent.
- Develop and maintain M&S Systems Engineering Working Group (MSEWG) charter and procedures guide; develop MSEWG briefing packages, conduct meetings, and coordinate approval of minutes; chair the MSEWG.
- Develop MDS M&S V&V plans/reports and accreditation plans/reports.
- Perform System Federation Validation Event (SFVE) tasks necessary to plan and assess SFVE events, develop event requirements, define event objectives and author V&V plans.
- Conduct SFVE analysis, prepare and coordinate release of SFVE event analysis reports to support validation of MDS integrated system M&S in HWIL and digital environments.
- Perform MDS verification tasks, including development and maintenance of the MDS Verification Plan, verify System Specification (SS) performance and functional requirements, as well as System Interface Control Document (SICD) system level Information Exchange Requirements (IERs), and report verification results.
- Update and/or author and staff for approval: documents, studies, assessments, and reports as may be required, to include V&V Reports and Accreditation Reports.
- Perform/assess model design verification to substantiate that the M&S design accurately reflects the validated concept and associated requirements.
- Document M&S capabilities, limitations, assumptions and risk/impact that affect M&S intended use and test objectives. Identify and provide mitigation strategies for each M&S limitation.
- Fulfill the role of MDA M&S VV&A subject matter experts in support of MDA model development activities and in support of MDA leadership, as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Position requires either the degree and experience posted below in "Preferred Qualifications" OR a labor category waiver approved by the US government
- Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI
- Experience and understanding of the MDA mission
- Proficient understanding of the current and evolving MDS architectures
- Experience with application of M&S to defense architectures
- Systems engineering background or familiarity (i.e., knowledge of the systems engineering "V")
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM Field with 3+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD programs or projects
- Ability to work independently and lead teams
- Experience developing System of Systems
- Experience with application of modeling & simulation to defense architectures
