Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Senior Audio Mechanical Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional with a proven track record as a Mechanical Engineer for a World Class Automotive Audio System. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. As an Audio Mechanical Engineer at Lucid Motors, you will play a vital role in the development, design, and manufacturing of audio products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, acoustics engineers, and Body Structure designers, to ensure that our audio products not only sound fantastic but are also well-built and reliable. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our audio product line and help us deliver exceptional audio experiences to our customers.

The Role
• Collaborate with the product design team, Audio System Architects to create aesthetically pleasing and functional audio product designs. Ensure that mechanical aspects align with the product's audio performance and user experience goals.
• Design, develop, and refine mechanical components and enclosures for audio devices. Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, considering manufacturability and assembly processes.
• Select appropriate materials for various product components, considering factors like durability, weight, acoustic properties, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and oversee the creation of prototypes and conduct tests to assess the mechanical and acoustic performance of products. Identify and address issues and refinements in the design.
• Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure that product designs can be efficiently and cost-effectively produced at scale.
• Consider automotive body structures, NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), sealing, stiffness, resonances, natural frequencies, and other factors to ensure optimal acoustic performance.
• Establish and implement quality control processes to ensure that all products meet the desired specifications and performance standards.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of mechanical components and product assemblies to ensure they meet or exceed performance, durability, and safety standards.
• Maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and testing reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, acoustics engineers, and product designers, to ensure that the mechanical design aligns with overall product goals.
• Apply knowledge of mass production processes and technologies, such as injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, plastic welding, gluing, riveting, etc., to ensure efficient manufacturing of speaker packaging with a thoughtful consideration to installation on the vehicle Assembly Line.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in audio and mechanical engineering to help maintain our competitive edge.
Qualifications
• First principle thinking.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field is required.
• 5 years or more of Industry relevant experience.
• Proven experience in mechanical design and development, preferably in the audio industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA , SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL).
• Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
• Experience with prototyping and testing mechanical components.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
