Position Summary
The Women's Leadership Institute, a servant institute of Concordia University Wisconsin-Ann Arbor (CUWAA), invites applicants to apply for a 20-25 hr. part-time director position. This is a non-clergy position for a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) member (rostered preferable) or someone well-acquainted with LCMS churches and church workers. Their role will maintain the operations and communications of the Women's Leadership Institute and act as the liaison between advisory board members, work team volunteers and on-campus offices to continue to further the mission and vision of the Institute. Additionally, the director oversees and delegates the work of the Institute to any WLI staff members and work team volunteers. This position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and the WLI Advisory Board.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Continue WLI Mentor Programming
- Advise the Fall and Spring EmpowHer group through mentor/mentee connections and events with student ambassadors in collaboration with Campus Ministry.
- Oversee Growing Together online mentoring content and in-person workshops. Assign Growing Together facilitators and facilitate future training with current trained facilitators. Create marketing content for workshops and promote the Growing Together program.
Communications for Institute
- Coordinate the creation of a WLI newsletter with updates, articles, and future events.
- Communicate with constituents using social media, the website, and email about upcoming events and opportunities. Respond to emails and inquiries.
- Be present at events that promote the Institute and its mission and build relationships and connections for the Institute.
General Office Duties
- Collaborate with the WLI Financial Secretary to maintain an accurate review of the budget and write an annual budget proposal for review and approval by the WLI Advisory Board. Communicate with CUWAA accounts payable office to monitor and review WLI finances and endowments.
- Partner with CUWAA Advancement to schedule annual giving efforts.
- Maintain WLI's contact list using the Banner platform.
- Launch and collect nominations for WLI Student Awards and Women of Influence Awards and communicate about the opportunities, award winners, and support the WLI selection committee.
- Cooperate with the Advisory Board to plan events like the Women of Influence Award Dinner, reserve spaces on campus as needed, coordinate exhibiting, and other duties as assigned.
- Work with the committee chairs to schedule, attend as an ex officio member and report at WLI Advisory Board committee meetings.
- Provide quarterly written reports to the Advisory Board regarding the activities of the WLI volunteer work teams and the WLI Director.
Foster Relationships
- Ability to travel to exhibit and promote WLI.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends for special events such as the annual Women of Influence banquet, Advisory Board meetings, conferences, etc.
- Arrange for other WLI Ambassadors and Board members to be present at events.
- Have a physical presence on the Concordia Wisconsin campus by operating out of the WLI office in the Robert Plaster building. CUWAA employees may work remotely a portion of the time for Zoom meetings, answering emails, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Use platforms such as Outlook/Microsoft 365, Banner, Constant Contact, SquareSpace, and Monday.com
- Organized and a Self-Starter
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Collaborates effectively with others to identify and obtain any missing information needed for tasks
- Flexibility with their schedule and willingness to work with a team of volunteer board members
- Facilitates a positive and collaborative approach to navigate transitions
- Professionalism while communicating to current and future WLI partners
- Demonstrated ability to create a trusting, supportive rapport with students
- Able to work some evenings and weekends for special occasions
