We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chairside Dental Assistant to join our team and support our multi-location general dentistry practice across Brooklyn and Queens. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient clinical workflows, high-quality patient care, and seamless coordination between dental providers and support staff. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with extensive experience in chairside assisting, strong organizational skills, and a deep commitment to patient care.
Hourly rates start at $25 / hour. Candidates with meaningful experience can earn higher compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert chairside assistance during a wide range of general dentistry procedures, ensuring precision, efficiency, and patient comfort.
- Mentor and train junior dental assistants, promoting best practices in chairside techniques, infection control, and patient care.
- Oversee treatment room preparation, ensuring instruments are sterilized, properly arranged, and readily available for procedures.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting procedures and treatment progress with a high level of precision.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-treatment care, and preventive dental practices, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
- Assist with complex procedures such as root canals, extractions, crowns, bridges, and implant placements.
- Manage and maintain dental instruments, materials, and equipment, ensuring functionality, compliance, and adherence to sterilization protocols.
- Coordinate with the front office team to optimize patient scheduling and treatment flow, minimizing wait times and enhancing efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with infection control and sterilization protocols, maintaining a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff.
- Take and process high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays), adhering to safety standards and diagnostic accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Chairside Dental Assistant in a general dentistry setting.
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent credentials from an accredited program.
- Proficiency in four-handed dentistry and advanced chairside assisting techniques.
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials, including experience with implant and surgical procedures.
- Expertise in taking and processing digital dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to process improvements.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage high-volume patient flow across multiple locations.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a patient-first approach.
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
