Coordinate, monitor, analyze, and assist in the preparation of the departmental budget; conduct complex financial and budget analysis to assess and enhance financial and related operational methods and activities; prepare financial and cost accounting reports.NOTE: This position is a part-time role (20 hours weekly). Schedule is flexible but should be consistent. It also will be hybrid remote, offering work-from-home opportunities at times, though work also will be required in our Nashville, TN office, particularly during the probationary period for training.
Requirements are Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 3 years of relevant work experience. The ideal candidate also will have intermediate proficiency with Excel. Additional strong capabilities include experience in Graduate Medical Education and proficient knowledge of Work Day software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and prepare budgetary data for department budget, including rate projections and personnel salary/wage data.
- Maintain confidentiality of data
- Research, analyze, prepare, and reconcile data for department budget; identify and research variances; create unique and often complex reports; make projections and recommendations; develop cost comparisons with previous budgets.
- Use applicable Financial Management budget guidelines.
- Use generally accepted accounting principles.
- Design, develop, and implement financial/budget reporting systems, including financial forecasting; prepare regular and special accounting and financial reports for department needs.
- Use a broad knowledge of Vanderbilt systems, accounting practices and organizational business units.
- Use creative problem-solving skills.
- Perform internal budget auditing function for department; recommend procedural changes; review data periodically to analyze trends affecting budget/accounting needs.
- Maintain regular communication with intra-departmental administrative teams to promote consistency in accounting practices.
- Advise supervisor regarding budgetary matters; resolve routine budget issues concerning personnel, utilization of facilities, equipment, and funds.
- Create and maintain systems for inventory control of equipment; monitor the purchase of material, services, equipment, and utilization of facilities and personnel.
- Use Vanderbilt equipment inventory guidelines.
- Review the preparation of contracts; write and update internal procedures and controls for outside vendor contracts.
- Use a broad understanding of Vanderbilt's overall contracting procedures.
- Serve as liaison with other departments to provide budget and cost accounting information.
- Promote consistency in accounting standards and reporting.
