The opportunity
This role supports Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs within the Cincinnati facility. As the site EHS team member, you will play an active role in supporting the site’s environmental, occupational health, safety, and sustainability (EHS) efforts to drive long-term company and stakeholder value. The individual in this role will be responsible for helping with developing, planning, and implementation of Hygiene and Occupational Health Programs.
How you’ll spend your day
- Manage and serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the following programs:
- Employee Exposure Prevention,
- Respiratory Protection,
- Hearing Conservation,
- Occupational Health and Medical Surveillance,
- Ergonomics,
- Personal Protective Equipment,
- Radioactive Materials,
- Bio risk management,
- Laboratory Safety, and others.
- Develop Occupational Hygiene Monitoring Strategy and Plan.
- Perform IH Monitoring, samplings, analyses for active pharmaceutical ingredients, chemicals, noise, vibration, and over exposures.
- Document the monitoring; correlate the new monitoring results with the historical data.
- Develop remediation plan designed to eliminate or reduce employee exposure through a hierarchy of control (elimination, substitution, redesign, engineering control, administrative control, PPE).
- Act as a project manager or participate as a SME in the projects (e.g. redesign of process to ensure better containment; design a new processes that meet the company engineering and EHS containment requirements).
- Perform PPE assessment. Develop and revise PPE Matrix. Develop PPE selection justification statements.
- Work with vendors to ensure that required PPE are supplied and available for employees.
- Work with vendors to arrange annual Medical Surveillance, fit-to-work (when required).
- Perform trainings or develop training materials for the listed programs.
- Perform hazard identification and risk assessments, JHA, JSA.
- Participate in or conduct health and safety trainings for employees.
- Support site during EHS audits, authority agencies inspections.
- Participate or lead EHS event investigations (e.g. investigation of injuries, near-misses, NOVs, incidents, accidents, non-conformities, others). Determine of immediate and route causes. Identify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Work with the appropriate site team on closure the CAPAs in a timely manner.
- Participate or develop as a SME site procedures, working instructions and other documents to ensure proper implementation the company and the regulatory compliance requirements.
- Participate in developing and achieving the site and company EHS&S KPIs, objectives, and targets.
Your experience and qualifications
- B.S. in an EHS related field (safety, industrial hygiene, environment), or other related field (i.e. engineering, chemistry).
- Experience in performing industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling.
- Master’s degree or CIH certification is a plus.
- Pharmaceutical and/or GMP experience a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years of EHS experience.
- Experience with EHS software (e.g. Enablon) a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in EHS, ideally in a pharmaceuticals manufacturing environment.
