- Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Educational Psychology.
- All instructors must have a valid state teacher certification or endorsement in Early Childhood Education.
- All instructors must have five years of experience in a birth-K3 setting, including teaching, curriculum development, or leadership roles.

ECE-501 Introduction to Early Childhood Foundations and Graduate Studies
“This course begins by acquainting teacher candidates with the GCU learning management system, while preparing them to be successful graduate-level students and future Early Childhood educators. Teacher candidates survey the philosophical, historical, and psychological foundations upon which early childhood educational theories and practices are constructed. Current early childhood educational models are explored. Teacher candidates examine the application of theories to the early childhood classroom and evaluate their contemporary usefulness in supporting children’s academic achievement, brain development, and social and emotional growth through early childhood.”
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:
- Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom.
- Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes.
- Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
