The Reality Labs team is seeking an Android OS Expert with experience in Embedded Software Engineering with strong design and build skills, experience with AOSP (Android system level), low-level systems software/firmware, device driver programming and experience with shipping hardware/software products. You will be an integral members of cross functional teams, responsible for AOSP customizations and embedded software design and optimization. Efforts will be involved in developing a solid platform while working on a variety of domains to enable new experiences for augmented reality, virtual reality and social/family products.Software Engineer (Android OS - Embedded) Responsibilities

- Android System Development: Lead the design, architecture, and development of Android operating system components, including kernel modifications, device drivers, and system-level services.
- Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations to enhance the overall efficiency and responsiveness of the Android platform on various hardware configurations.
- Customization and Integration: Customize and integrate the Android operating system to meet the specific requirements of our products and collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Security and Stability: Implement robust security measures and conduct thorough testing to ensure the Android system's stability, reliability, and resistance to potential vulnerabilities.
- Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to Android system development, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation in our products.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years’ experience defining and driving technical work streams and providing technical leadership for software engineering teams at the system level.
- Proven cross-functional partnership, working across functions to drive solutions.
- Effective understanding of memory management, multi-threading, and power management on Android devices. Extensive knowledge of the Android operating system architecture, frameworks, and components.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: BSP/Board Support Package, RTOS, Bootloader, Power Management, Linux, Graphics and Display Drivers, MCU (Microcontroller).
- 10+ years of experience working on systems software in a large-scale C/C++ code base.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Knowledge to analyze complex technical issues, devise innovative solutions, and implement effective strategies to enhance Android system performance and stability.
- Adaptability: Knowledge to adapt to changing project requirements, new technologies, and emerging trends in the Android ecosystem.
- Team Player: Proven communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive working environment.
