This is a benefit-eligible, part-time position (36 hours every two weeks), working 12-hour night shifts (6:30pm - 7:00am) on various days and located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas in the Observation Unit.

The Outpatient Observation Unit is a 20-bed hospital-based outpatient unit located on the first floor of the Acute Care Building at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. The department provides care for outpatient observation and extended recovery patients requiring less than 24 hours of care. Patients may be admitted from the Emergency Department, direct physician observation admissions, or post-procedural/post-operative recovery. The unit cares for a variety of telemetry, medical, and procedural patients in a fast-paced environment focused on safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

The general duties of the Patient Care Assistant include:

  • Provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team
  • Assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment
  • Assists with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician
  • Supports the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties
 

Qualifications

 

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • One year of recent experience working under the license of an licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals
