Substitute Teacher, Early Childhood Education (Part-Time Temporary)

Description

The Village School of Naples accepts applications for Preschool Substitute Teachers on an ongoing basis. Applications will remain on file and reviewed only when there is a need. This is a temporary position on an on-call and as-needed basis.

The Preschool Substitute Teacher is responsible for supervising the care and education of students in his/her classroom as assigned. The Preschool Substitute may be assigned to assist in the Infant Nursery through Junior Kindergarten classrooms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the mission and objectives of the schools learning philosophy.
• Model Christ Skills, emphasizing this conduct model in all areas at all times.
• Ensure a safe environment of the students in the classroom and playground.
• Participate in and monitor infant play activities.
• Meet the needs of infants in your care to include changing diapers and administering bottles and meals in a caring and nurturing environment.
• Help infants with rest by holding, rocking, and soothing.
• Sanitize toys and play equipment.
• Actively engage in age-appropriate, positive communication with the students.
• Actively engage and interact with students during centers and table activities, etc.
• Actively supervise and engage in playground physical activities.
• Maintain and follow daily routines and schedules.
• Maintain the education materials and equipment for classroom and playground in an acceptable way.
• Maintain an orderly classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All Preschool Substitutes must have at least a high school diploma. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Must demonstrate a good knowledge of English language and use appropriately. Must be nurturing, enjoy children and interacting with them on a daily basis. Physically, this position requires considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, standing, and sitting on the floor. This position must have the ability to lift, hold, and carry infants as well as interact with them while sitting on the floor on a regular basis.
