General Summary

This CMA position is in a family practice, primary care clinic and will be responsible for supporting providers in delivering quality health care to patients.  Seeking CMA who loves phlebotomy, or phlebotomist that is eager to learn and grow.  Clinic support functions include supporting the company’s core values and to practice, enforce, and comply with Health Information Management and HIPM standards.  Must have the ability to accurately maintain hard copy and electronic medical records. 

 

The CMA position provides administrative and clinical support, answering phone calls and triage requests, assisting with setting appointments and projects for enhancement of client relations in the clinic.

 

 

We are seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to support our primary care clinic located in Wasilla, Alaska Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week.

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Provides both front office and back-office support, fostering constructive relationships as a team member.
  • Gather patient histories, vital signs, weights and heights, room patients, blood draws, injections, EKG's and stress tests, x-rays, and assist in minor in-office procedures.
  • Draws blood, performs screening rests, and reports results.
  • Provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill or injured client employees as directed by a physician, physician assistant, or Clinical Services Director.
  • Interview patient to determine medical problem(s)/condition(s) and document in chart for physician.
  • Assist Providers with patient examination as needed and administer specified medication as directed.
  • Provide support to the operations of the clinic by maintaining medical equipment, keeping exam rooms properly supplied and ready for patients, and maintaining office inventory and ordering supplies as necessary.
  • Distributes mailings/overnight packaging as needed.
  • Interact with patients and other physician offices to assist with follow up, scheduling, questions, etc.
  • Perform medical records functions on Electronic Medical Record system, such as filing and maintenance of patient records.
  • Mail, retrieve and copy records for medical and legal releases. Obtain records and purge records to storage.
  • Assist with current immunization and allergy protocols.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
  • Proficiently and consistently completes accurate, concise, and legible documentation of patient and clinic records. Including delivery of care and telephone interactions.
  • Promote and practice cost containment for the organization and patient.
  • Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.

Job Requirements - Education and Training

 

  • Required Education/Certification:

    • CMA, or higher-level certification
    • Experience with Electronic Medical Records systems

 

  • Preferred:

    • 2 years relevant CMA or Phlebotomy experience
    • Experience with Athena, Boss, and Systoc EMR systems
    • Demonstrated skill in adaptability, customer service, interpersonal relations, verbal, and written communication.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

 

 

Work conditions are such that significant time will be spent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and include some lifting.  Exposure to bodily fluids, sharps and other health care occupational hazards are routine.  This will include hospital grade cleaning solutions, flammable solutions, and gases (e.g. alcohol and oxygen) as well as latex and other industrial chemicals.  Must be able to lift to 45 pounds, carry, climb, push, pull kneel, twist, stoop, and squat.
