Summary


Under limited supervision, the Court Education Trainer for the South Carolina Judicial Branch is responsible for developing, coordinating, administering, promoting, and supporting web-based and in-person education programs of the South Carolina Judicial Branch. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

Assist in the creation of education needs assessments, establishing education and training goals and objectives in conjunction with other education project team members. Develop, analyze, and edit instructional materials and online learning materials; draft lesson plans, lesson content, and assessment tools based on sound adult education principles. Interview subject matter experts and/or conduct research to develop instructional content. Decide on the criteria used to evaluate learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments.

Perform as web-based course and content developer by developing and uploading new online learning projects as assigned and the quality of work products must meet the expectations of project managers by agreed upon deadlines.

Create, plan, and prepare learning activities, exercises, and course content that enhances the learning process and aids the transfer, retention, and application of knowledge and skills. Create supporting material and media such as photos, illustrations, audio, video, simulations, role plays, and games.

Recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to better adhere to delivery options for the course. Review established courses to determine need for revisions, sunsetting, updates to delivery methods, etc. as needed. Stay up-to-date on new training techniques, and make recommendations on new training methods or programs

Examples of duties


Bachelor's degree in human resources, training, education or related field and four (4) years' work-related experience designing training programs and teaching adult learners, or a Master's degree and two (2) years' work-related experience designing training programs and teaching adult learners; or an equivalent combinarion of education and experience in the same. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Extensive knowledge of modern office procedures, software and equipment, and the operation of visual equipment and personal computers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of human resources, federal and state employment laws, and regulations affecting human resources management. Knowledge about Judicial Branch programs and functions. Knowledge of management and organizational concepts. Ability to design, organize, schedule, conduct and evaluate continuing education programs. Ability to teach carrying levels of adult learners, make presentations, lead discussions, instruct training groups and stimulate individuals and groups in the learning process. Ability to assess, recommend and implement various program policies and procedures and initiate program improvements. Knowledge of the principles of adult education and curriculum design and development. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of employee training and development. Experience in the use of Distance Learning Technologies. Ability to facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, one-to-one training, and remote training. Ability to grasp new concepts and terminology quickly. Ability to follow technical instructions and requests. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and subject matter experts to facilitate, innovate, research, and develop training programs. Must be able to complete full training cycles and implement effective staff development and training programs with limited direction from management. Requires strong organizational and analytical skills. Requires appropriate and professional attire and demeanor.

Qualifications


Proven ability to complete a full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate). Extensive knowledge of instructional design, theory, and implementation.
Knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools.
 Familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques and experience with e-learning platforms.
Proven work experience as a training coordinator
