Salary: $66,785.82 - $83,482.27 Commensurate with Experience
SUMMARY
This position is based at Charlotte Douglas International Airport and is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This position reports to the Accessibility & Equity Manager and requires considerable initiative, contact with the public, compliance knowledge and critical thinking.
Responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to:
Supervisory
-Serve as the subject matter expert for ADA and Title VI regulations and requirements.
-Provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of direct reports.
-Identify and support professional development opportunities for team members.
-Monitor workload distribution to ensure balance and productivity across the team.
General
-Lead efforts to ensure CLT Airport remains compliant with federal, state, and local accessibility and non-discrimination requirements, with oversight from the Accessibility & Equity Manager.
-Be the airport’s primary point of contact for passenger grievances concerning ADA and discrimination matters. Investigate complaints and recommend corrective actions.
-Be the airport’s primary point of contact for corresponding with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) concerning ADA and Title VI compliance.
ADA Compliance
-Collaborate with various divisions, departments, and stakeholders to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of ADA compliance measures across all public-facing airport facilities and services.
-Conduct regular internal audits and assessments of public-facing facilities, communications, and services, to identify and remediate accessibility barriers.
Title VI Compliance
-Aid in the maintenance and upkeep of the airport’s Title VI and Community Participation plans and its initiatives, per the FAA’s requirements, to ensure non-discrimination. Amend accordingly as required.
-Maintain and update Limited English Proficiency (LEP) data, with up-to-date census data and new initiatives.
Training and Outreach
-Assist with the development and delivery of training and education for airport staff, contractors, and stakeholders on ADA and Title VI compliance.
-Collaborate with stakeholders, community organizations, advocacy groups and other government agencies on accessibility and equity matters to identify program improvement opportunities.
Monitoring and Reporting
-Maintain accurate records of complaints, investigations, audits, preventative and corrective actions.
-Assist in the preparation of compliance reports and presentations for Aviation and City leadership, FAA, and other audiences, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) & Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
• Experience with federal regulations and compliance reporting.
• Ability to conduct research, plan and execute initiatives.
• Must be proficient in Excel, Word and other MS Office Programs with the ability to learn new programs quickly. Experience utilizing database programs and ability to access information from the Internet and Intranet.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Proficient organizational skills required.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner.
• Must have the ability to multi-task.
• Bi-lingual skills are preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduate or Equivalent with 5 years related work experience
OR
Associate's degree with 3 years related work experience
OR
Bachelor's Level Degree with 1 years related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Coursework in business administration, public administration, aviation management, sociology, a related field, or an ADA Coordinator certification is beneficial.
