Job Summary
The Assistant Director provides strategic and operational leadership in support of the University’s procurement and contracting activities related to construction and facilities. This role assists the Director of Purchasing in managing day-to-day departmental operations while advancing institutional goals related to compliance, supplier diversity, cost-effectiveness, and service excellence. The Associate Director ensures procurement practices align with applicable state regulations, University policies, and best practices in higher education procurement.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$80,000 - $92,000/annual
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's (or higher) degree in business administration, management or a field closely related to the position.
2. At least five (5) years of full time (or part-time equivalent) professional level work experience supervising or leading staff; three (3) of the five years must have included work experience with the State of Illinois Procurement code.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Demonstrate Experience with e-procurement or ERP systems (e.g., Unimarket, Banner, Workday, Jaggaer).
2. Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or similar credentials.
Work Hours
Core work hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
