Akron General's Speech & Language Pathology Department treats common speech and language disorders, as well as common medical conditions that cause speech, language or swallowing disorders. As a Speech Pathologist on the team, you will evaluate and diagnose these disorders in patients as well as develop individualized treatment plans. 

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, with the availability to work one weekend per month. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Evaluate and treat speech language pathology patients. 

  • Communicate to referral sources about patient's initial condition, progress and discharge disposition. 

  • Complete patient-related and non-patient-related documentation. 

  • Delegate and supervise the patient care of support staff and students. 

  • Market services to patients, referral sources and the public. 

  • Form and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients and staff. 

  • Effectively organize work assignments and time, without compromising quality patient care, to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. 

  • Participate in continuing education, in-services, orientation programs and student programs. 

  • Keep treatment areas and department clean and orderly. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. 

  • Maintain applicable certification/licensure. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology 

  • Current license to practice Speech Pathology in the state of Ohio 

  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) OR working towards attaining competency as issued by ASHA 

  • CPR certification 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Previous experience as a Speech Pathologist
