Job Description

Title:  Quality Engineer

Position Summary:

This position investigates quality issues using quality engineering tools and principles.  May relate to issues originating from the factory, from strategic business partners or the field (customers).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Investigate non-conformances that are escalated from production, business partners or the field (customers).  These would be systematic failures where multiple units are affected or where multiple systems must be considered as part of the investigation (electronics, mechanics, fuel system, cooling system, programming, etc.)
  • Assemble and lead multidisciplinary teams as needed to support Quality investigations.
  • Determine the causers of the non-conformances.
  • Support the responsible team/department towards determining root causes of non-conformances.
  • Coordinate corrective action activities.  Work with the team(s) responsible for developing solutions and ensure that appropriate solutions are developed to prevent issues from reoccurring.
  • Coordinate activities for qualifying corrective actions.
  • Carry out lessons learned for each systemic non-conformance topics to ensure that the problem and similar issues do nor reoccur.
  • Report to stakeholders on the status of the 8Ds from the reactive quality topics.
  • Mentor Interns, Quality Technicians and Associate Quality Engineers and include them in learning opportunities.
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as required

Basic Requirements:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing engineering plus 3 years quality engineering experience with large industrial equipment or 7 years quality engineering with large industrial equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of large industrial equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control, raw materials, manufacturing processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of large industrial equipment.
  • Excellent in use of 8D Methodology
  • Familiar with plant operations and equipment
  • Knowledge of MTU components and products
  • Knowledge of genset performance requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter possessing strong initiative and teamwork
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
