Workplace Status:

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the candidate is expected to report to their primary location three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:

This leadership role is integral to our cybersecurity team, focusing on how Cyber Threat Intelligence can be leveraged to reduce the cyber risk and help safeguard GM’s operations and strategic interests. The Staff Cyber Security Engineer will guide efforts in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats, utilizing a deep understanding of the cyber threat landscape and attack methodologies. This position plays a crucial role in shaping our cybersecurity strategy and delivering actionable intelligence to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership and Strategy: You will spearhead the development and implementation of our Cyber Threat Intelligence strategy, standards, and roadmaps. This includes performing complex assignments that extend the application of security principles, theories, and concepts across all GM cybersecurity domains.
  • Advanced Threat Intelligence Analysis: As a CTI expert, you will perform, lead, and advise on sophisticated research to identify and assess emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits. This involves developing and maintaining analytical frameworks, where applicable, to produce actionable insights.
  • Content Development and Reporting: Lead the creation of threat intelligence content, including indicators of compromise (IOCs), leveraging both subscription-based and open-source intelligence. You will produce detailed threat analysis reports and advisories, providing in-depth insights into cyber threats and trends to enhance detection and prevention opportunities.
  • Strategic Influence and Collaboration: You are expected to influence security strategies and operational initiatives without direct control, embodying and promoting our company's values and culture. You will work closely with senior leadership, offering project management and analytical support for enterprise projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Review, validate, and expertly deliver intelligence to internal teams and business partners, enhancing our security risk assessments, threat surveys, and policy frameworks. You will be expected to extensively network with other experts within the company to integrate and provide bi-directional support to the needs of our internal partners.

Additional Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field, or 7+ years of experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence or a similar cybersecurity field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the analysis and production of threat intelligence for decision-makers.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of open-source tools for threat analysis, core cybersecurity concepts, the cyber attack lifecycle, and risk management frameworks.
  • Provide expert level security consultation on malware analysis, adversary TTPs, and use of threat intelligence platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and a strong analytical, strategic, and creative approach to solving complex problems.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and delivering training programs on cyber threat and security concepts.
