Description

 

The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect patient care services under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role supports the delivery of safe, timely, and patient-centered care by assisting with basic clinical and supportive care needs in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The Patient Care Technician practices in alignment with organizational values, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements. 

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct patient care assistance, including support with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, safety, and comfort measures.  
  • Assist licensed nursing staff with delegated patient care activities according to established clinical protocols. 
  • Observe patient condition and promptly report changes or concerns to licensed nursing staff.  
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to patient care activities. 
  • Support patient safety, infection prevention, and environmental cleanliness standards.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow escalation procedures. 
  • Prioritize assigned tasks and utilize resources effectively in a high-acuity clinical environment.  

 

 

Qualifications

 
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Nursing Assistant license from FL DOH

Nursing Students 

  • Must be actively enrolled in an ASN or BSN program
  • have completed Fundamentals of Nursing
  • Must upload unofficial transcript
