Design Within Reach is looking for an intern to support our Graphic Design and Content Production teams. The candidate should have a keen interest in graphic design and photography for interiors and home furnishings.

This role will be focused on supporting our Graphic Designer and Creative Content Art Director by researching and developing new creative concepts, bringing expertise in ideation through creation of mood boards, designing digital marketing collateral. This intern attends meetings and maintains close collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring maintenance of the company's ethos through effective communication, proactive research, creative thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills. This role is based in our New York, NY office 2 days a week, our Stamford, CT office 2 days a week. Compensation for public transportation to the Stamford office will be provided.

  • Research: Research focused on brand campaign concepts, photography, styling for interior design and home furnishing brands. 
  • Design: Work with our graphic designer to bring on-brand omni-channel campaigns and digital marketing collateral to life.
  • Concept: Concept development, visual communication, to support seasonal creative direction for content focused on furniture, interiors and architecture.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal design, merchandising, and content production teams to bring campaigns concepts to market. This role will proactively contribute to creative thinking for project needs.
  • Growth Mindset: Identify opportunities to enhance company processes, improve accuracy, and streamline workflows to deliver to the brands' highest design standards.
  • Industry Savvy: Stay updated on new products and. Campaigns entering the market and research archival marketing. Ability to partner across the MillerKnoll enterprise.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working in cross-functional team environments.
  • Strong visual communication skills across 2D platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and file management skills.
  • Excellent creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of aesthetics and cultural trends in interiors and home furnishings.
  • Positive and professional attitude, with a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, maturity, self-awareness, empathy, and emotional intelligence while understanding business goals.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in business, corporate, or project strategy..


Education

  • Studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Photography, or related field.
  • Experience working in cross-functional team environments.
  • You must have a GPA of at least 3.0 (overall or within your program) to qualify for consideration in the Intern Program.  
  • Must have satisfactorily completed basic coursework in the chosen degree program.   
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.  
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
