Commercial Product Pharmacist Verification 2

 The goal of the dispensing Commercial Products Pharmacist is to maintain Wedgewood Pharmacy’s expectations for continuous quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and patient care in accordance with all relevant state and federal regulations.  The pharmacist accomplishes these tasks through working with Wedgewood’s management team and all other staff employees in fulfilling his/her responsibilities and duties.

 

When will you work? 

• Mon- Fri 9:00 am- 5:30 pm

 

What you’ll do:

• Dispense commercially available legend drugs.
• Directly supervise pharmacy activities of technical and non-technical staff and ensure these activities occur in accordance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, and company policies and procedures.
• Pharmacist Verification 2 (PV2) which ensures patient safety by verifying the accuracy of order fulfillment. This includes performing all required final inspection quality checks for preparation packaging and order fulfillment to ensure each finished preparation meets the expected packaging, labeling, quantity, and physical characteristics called for on the prescription or medication order.
• If order volume requires it, perform Pharmacist Verification 1 (PV1) which ensures patient safety by using clinical knowledge to verify the accuracy and appropriateness of prescription and medication orders.
• Contact prescribers to resolve order discrepancies and drug therapy issues.
• Check in and verify the accuracy of incoming shipments from Blue Rabbit Veterinary Wholesale.
• Maintain and recommend systems for quality control in the dispensing of prescription. medication in accordance with applicable state and/or federal pharmacy regulations.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies and procedures, rules and regulations established by Wedgewood Pharmacy.
• Support all facets of Wedgewood’s operations as necessary to ensure high quality customer service and effective workflow within the organization.
• Work collaboratively with other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to complete assigned tasks.
• Use pharmaceutical knowledge and professional judgement to review quality issues that arise during the dispensing process and determine appropriate action according to company policy.
• Maintain systems, based on company policy and standard operating procedures, of all pharmaceuticals and controlled substances as related to the inventory, storage, and handling in dispensing, packaging, and labeling.
• Train for and, when needed, take on the responsibilities of any other pharmacist position within the department and company.
• Follow all Wedgewood’s policies and procedures and recommend any improvements.
• Treat all staff in a polite, friendly, professional, and respectful manner.
• Any suggested additions or improvements to existing quality systems or procedures will be submitted in writing to the appropriate manager.
• Follow all state and federal laws pertaining to the handling and dispensing of controlled substances, drugs, and poisons.
• Maintain pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Maintain a productivity standard as determined by the Pharmacist Manager.
• Maintain an accuracy standard as determined by the Pharmacist Manager.

 

Who you are:

• Retail experience strongly preferred, but not required.
• Must have the ability to maintain composure and professionalism while working in a fast past environment.
• Must have knowledge of basic principles, theories, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures that pertain to the practice of pharmacy.
• Detail oriented with good analytical skills.
• Flexible work schedule.

 

What you’ve done:

• Will work in a variety of positions and locations which will require the agility necessary to bend, reach, stoop, squat, stand and walk.
• Requires corrected vision and depth perception sufficient to identify and discern printed words and instructions.
• May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
• May be required to spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy (BS) or Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy (Pharm. D.).
• Maintain and keep current License to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of New Jersey.
