Director, Office of Public Guardian
State of VermontAbout the role
Overview
Are you an experienced professional who is passionate about making Vermont the best state in which to grow old or to live with a disability - with dignity, respect, and independence? The Developmental Disabilities Services Division is looking for a motivated person to fill the Director of Office of Public Guardian position.
This position is responsible for understanding and interpreting the evolving policies and regulatory environment in order to provide the leadership, guidance, and real-time clinical decision-making for supervisors and Public Guardians. As a model for effective guardianship, the Director must demonstrate both sophistication and subtlety when engaging the various partners and constituencies that the Office of Public Guardian must balance every day, all while under a high level of scrutiny. Expertise in the laws and regulations that outline public guardianship, combined with the ability to motivate, organize, lead, and often emotionally support a team of over 30 staff to meet the needs of over 800 Vermonters necessitates that the Director be able to consistently respond effectively to a variety of disparate problems. Work is performed under the Developmental Disabilities Services Division Director, but with significant latitude for judgment and discretion with the bounds of statute and Agency policy.
