Are you an experienced facilities professional with a passion for safety, leadership, and excellence? Wooded Glen Recovery Center is looking for a Director of Plant Operations to oversee the physical environment of our treatment campus and ensure we meet the highest standards in safety, compliance, and facility operations.

This is a critical leadership role supporting our mission to provide a safe, clean, and healing environment for our patients and staff.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Education, Experience & Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or construction trade education preferred.

  • 5+ years of maintenance or facility operations experience required (healthcare setting preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of safe and standard building maintenance practices and tools.

  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in construction or maintenance environments required.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Trade licensure/certification (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.) preferred.

  • CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager) is a plus.

  • Valid state driver’s license

What You’ll Do (Essential Functions)

Facility Safety & Compliance

  • Oversee all maintenance and plant operations while ensuring compliance with OSHA, CDC, NFPA, TJC, CARF, state/local fire marshal regulations, and other governing bodies.

  • Serve as the Life Safety & Security Officer, coordinating all safety and security programs in partnership with the Safety Committee.

  • Lead and participate in all fire drills, disaster preparedness activities, and emergency response events.

Building Operations & Preventative Maintenance

  • Manage general facility maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, electrical work, and minor repairs.

  • Conduct routine safety and environment-of-care inspections and maintain all required records.

  • Oversee preventative maintenance and documentation for:

    • HVAC, water, and sewage systems

    • Emergency electrical systems

    • Fire alarm and safety systems

    • Housekeeping and facility equipment

    • Company vehicles

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead a highly engaged maintenance team through hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management.

  • Maintain staffing levels aligned with census needs and manage overtime appropriately.

  • Identify team training needs and ensure ongoing safety and compliance education.

Operational Excellence

  • Prioritize facility concerns and collaborate with leadership to address high-impact issues.

  • Communicate expectations, timelines, and project updates clearly and consistently.

  • Manage maintenance budgets, monitor costs, and ensure projects stay within budget.

  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and manage relationships with outside vendors and contractors.

  • Ensure the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database is always accurate and up to date.

Facilities Management & Seasonal Work

  • Maintain the interior and exterior grounds year-round, including snow removal and assisting with transportation during inclement weather.

  • Inspect all completed work (internal and external) to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.

  • Complete Leadership Rounds to identify and correct physical environment and safety concerns in real time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the overall facility maintenance of the facility and ensures that all life safety and plant operation standards are maintained in relation to OSHA, CDC, NFPA, TJC, CARF, state and local fire marshal, health departments and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Oversees general building maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, minor repairs and electrical work.  Ensures that maintenance projects are completed timely, safely, and within budget and that the highest cleaning and safety standards are maintained in all company owned and leased properties. 
  • Performs regular physical environment inspections to identify maintenance repair needs, safety concerns, and compliance issues.  Maintains facility safety records.
