Anduril’s System Safety Engineering organization is seeking an Intern to join our team. The System Safety Engineering team works with our Reliability Engineering team and broader Engineering groups to ensure our products operate and meet all mission performance, environmental conditions, and customer requirements. As a System Safety Engineer at Anduril, you will gain knowledge of advanced System Safety tools and methodologies to drive excellence in our products and safety processes. You will support the Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Hardware & Software development teams across the product development lifecycle by participating in Functional Hazard Analysis, Fault Trees, System Safety Assessments, and Hazard Management and Hazard Mitigation activities for your product(s). The right person for this role enjoys hands-on work, loves to build processes, and can work efficiently across multi-disciplinary teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support the development and review of complex safety analyses, including FHA (Functional Hazard Analysis), Fault Tree, SCFTA (Safety Critical Functional Thread Analysis), and SSA (System Safety Assessments).
  • Collaborate with design teams to implement safety requirements into our products.
  • Identify & document hazards & risks for your program(s), manage hazard tracking databases, and ensure proper risk mitigation strategies are in place
  • Support the implementation of Safety corrective actions from Root Cause investigations and Mishap Reports
  • Support the verification and validation of risk and hazard reduction measures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant military and industry safety standards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
  • Must be a rising senior at the time of their internship and returning to school at the end of their internship to continue their academic studies for at least one quarter/semester.
  • Collegiate project team, machine shop, or laboratory experience.
  • High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior internship experience and/or leadership on a collegiate project team or laboratory.
  • Exposure to safety analysis techniques, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), and Failure Modes, Effects, & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Technical writing experience developing standards, specifications, user guides, and policies

 

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
