The role: 

Join ODOT as a Senior Infrastructure Architect and play a key role in shaping our enterprise technology environment. In this senior technical position, you’ll design, implement, and maintain complex systems that span multiple divisions across the agency. You’ll provide expert guidance to IT teams, lead large-scale infrastructure initiatives, and serve as a trusted advisor to management on system architecture and operations. Hybrid remote work options available! Most of this work may be conducted remotely at an alternate worksite with full access to the needed operating systems and technology. However, there are times when the work will be required to be performed at the Salem office building.

A day in the life:

  • Effectively resolve system crashes, provide highest level of support for Mission Critical point-of-sale applications for DMV and Motor Carrier where criticality of the system includes time sensitive, business revenue, regulatory requirements and public safety issues.

  • Provide highest level of support for multiple operating system platforms and internet communications related security.

  • Identify software/hardware defects and configuration problems, research failures, and contact vendor technical support as necessary.

  • Effectively recommend appropriate courses of action on issues surrounding data sharing, data storage, resource utilization, fault tolerance and redundancy, usage, security, integrity, compatibility, capacity and change control management.

  • Conduct business analysis, research, needs assessment, business process modeling, documentation, architecture and program development.

  • Evaluate and modifies vendor software while interfacing with vendor contacts and management.

  • Architect, design, and construct new systems using server and internet technology, keeping business needs, security, and ODOT standards current.

  • Responsible for high-level strategic planning, considering issues such as resource utilization, disaster planning, overall system performance and security.

  • Research, evaluate, architect and design new technology for use in ODOT's mission critical infrastructure, examples include cloud computing, systems
