Description

 Job Overview
The Print Shop Coordinator will supervise the overall operation of the district Print Shop while maintaining high standards of printed materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train print shop personnel in the operation of all print shop equipment and in the proper usage of all machines and processes and software programs
  • Organize, manage and maintain an automated workflow system that interfaces job intake, pre-press offset or digital print production, bindery and mass mail services
  • Administrator of Print Shop Ordering System
  • Determine district print needs and enhance current print shop offerings and services to meet needs
  • Report financial and statistical information to the Director of Purchasing on a monthly basis
  • Create and supervise print shop staff with goals and objectives for the department and review annually
  • Oversee print shop inventory control including paper stock, and supplies required for successful print shop operation
  • Report immediately all unsafe conditions and practices to immediate supervisor
  • Coordinate printing to outsource printers and vendors when needed for special projects
  • Assist in the design to create special projects for campuses
  • Streamline, organize, and create new products for Store Orders that will unify district
          Supervisory Responsibilities
          • Supervise all print shop operation, maintenance and projects to ensure the highest quality and timely completion of tasks
          • Supervise all employees to ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with manufacturer’s safety standards

           Qualification Requirements

          • Associate's Degree
          • High School diploma and a minimum of 10 years of experience in print production management and graphic design may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
          • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a print shop environment
          • Experience in a commercial print shop or in a school district/ municipality or government agency digital print shop setting
          • Knowledge of Pre-Press, Imposition, and Make Ready for print
          • Proficiency with PC operation including word processing, Excel spreadsheets and databases
          • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage priorities and conflicting demands
          • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
          • Advanced skills Adobe Creative Suites including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat Pro preferred
