What will you do?

A day in the life of a Associate Designer, Apparel Graphics at Vans looks a little like this.

This role is part of the broader Product Design organization and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Design, Apparel Graphics. This position plays a key part in bringing our brand vision to life through compelling pattern and print stories. As a creative partner to the broader design team, this individual will support the development and execution of print concepts that align with seasonal narratives and brand direction.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

• Assist graphics team with production tech packs and updates of t-shirt graphics, trims/labels, and updating PLM systems. 
• Assist in market research and contribute to the creation of seasonal inspiration boards. 
• Responsible for creation of graphics from ideation to final artworks and completion of production tech packs. 
• Ability to design; sketch, graphics, print artwork, color. 
• Demonstrate strong teamwork skills through cooperating with cross-functional team members and remain focused. 
• Adhere to all calendar dates.  

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 0-2 years of experience and professional achievements. 

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

• Knowledge of Adobe software including Photoshop, Illustrator.
• Knowledge of design techniques and processes.
• Multimedia experience is a plus.
• Print and pattern rendering experience is a plus.
• Maintain a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of goals. 
• Demonstrate the organizational ability to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• A willingness to learn new techniques and methods of art creation. 
• Assist the Graphics team with tech-packs and PLM bom entries

Location requirement: Hybrid schedule in-office in Costa Mesa, CA.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.

• Knowledge of different style/fashion genres Street culture, Fashion & Macro Trends
