As a member of Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE), we will provide the training and tools to help grow the skills you will need to become a software Subject Matter Expert (SME). You will learn from the best and brightest in the communications and nuclear deterrence domain working at Collins Aerospace.

As our next Open Mission Systems (OMS) SME, you will embark on a journey where your expertise in OMS will help shape the future of aerospace technology. At Collins Aerospace, we’re supporting the U.S. Air Force and Navy with developing the next generation VLF Technology. These technologies will be used for multiple platforms including the future Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC).

What YOU will do: 

  • You will work as an OMS SME, guiding a large, Agile software development team.

  • You will be responsible for providing technical guidance to multidisciplined teams, leading effective working sessions and trade studies, cultivating and reinforcing group values, and identifying, analyzing and correcting technical problems. 

  • You will interface with leadership, program management, and program customers on OMS software solutions.

  • You will ensure the development and management of technical risks & opportunities and develop and execute mitigation plans.  

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for junior engineers.

What YOU Will Learn:

  • You will gain a better understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) for black box integration.

  • You will have opportunity to learn and grow knowledge within the Strategic Nuclear Deterrence domains & gain niche skills enabling you to be unique in all you do.

  • You can take flight to becoming a subject matter expert and leader in NC3 domains.

  • You will learn to apply Collins Aerospace Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to cutting edge solution for emerging technologies.

  • You will learn how to work in an Agile environment and collaborate across engineering disciplines and management teams.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • OMS architecture experience.

  • Prior experience with applying Software Engineering principles to development programs.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with OMS implementation across multiple platforms

  • Familiarity with the OMS architectural elements, messaging schema, and compliance process

  • Experience with MBSE concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.

  • Experience with the whole software development lifecycle.

  • Experience with System and Subsystem levels of requirements generation

  • Experience of Multi-Level Security (MLS) implementation

  • Experience using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) process

  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git
