Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), the only multi-partner trust fund dedicated to accelerating programmatic and institutional support for local women’s organizations working in fragile settings to respond to crises and build lasting peace. Since its launch in 2016, WPHF has funded and supported the capacity of over 1,400 local and grassroots civil society organizations in 46 crisis-affected countries around the world. UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund. The WPHF Secretariat provides support to the Funding Board, mobilizes resources from Governments, companies, foundations and individuals, provides day to day support to Country Offices implementing WPHF programmes, ensures timely and quality monitoring and reporting, and amplifies the work and impact of WPHF grantee partners around the world. In addition to its Regular Funding Cycle, supporting local interventions led by and working alongside women to contribute to peace and humanitarian action worldwide, WPHF has establish three unique financing mechanisms to respond to new and emerging crises: the Rapid Response Window for Women and Peace Processes, which was requested by the UN SG and supports women’s participation in track 1 and 2 peace processes and the implementation of peace agreements and the Window for Women Human Rights Defenders, which promotes the protection and the participation of WHRDs in crisis settings.
Under the direct supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Specialist of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund – Peace, Security and Resilience Section – the WPHF Partnerships and Advocacy Analyst will support the Fund with the implementation and execution of all components of its NY-based event coordination, public advocacy and public-private sector engagement strategies, including supporting direct engagement with its #InvestInWomen Campaign activations, cultivating individual donor relations, assisting with foundation and partnership outreach, coordinating NY-based event planning – through the organizing of donor contact information, gift tracking, revenue reporting reconciliation and coordination with WPHF’s third-party fiduciary partner – contributing to the private sector-related visibility, public advocacy initiatives and wider NY-based partnerships and resource mobilization objectives of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund.
Key Functions and Accountabilities:
1 Support all aspects of WPHF NY-based event planning and meeting preparation, including all events and engagements related to private sector, pro-bono, public advocacy and donor partnerships
- Draft language and conceptualize programming for event CNs, manage approval process of all event-related assets
- Coordinate with programme and partnerships colleagues to identify CSO and other UN and government event speakers
- Coordinate all aspects of NY-based event planning logistics
- Monitor new developments, innovative practices and strategies in the realm of private sector and public advocacy engagements to secure, strengthen and deepen partnerships with traditional and non-traditional donors
- Support in the systematization and organization of all WPHF private sector and public advocacy outreach language and content
2 Coordinate the execution of all components of WPHF’s private sector engagement strategy, contributing to the Fund’s private sector, awareness-raising and wider resource mobilization objectives
- Manage outreach and relationships with philanthropists, foundations, corporations and pro-bono partners of WPHF
- Coordinate with WPHF’s third-party fiduciary partner UNF
- Draft and disseminate regular impact updates leveraging various channels, including WPHF newsletters and advocacy briefs
- Draft regular messaging and outreach language for WPHF’s global social media platforms related to private sector and public advocacy to increase visibility of the Fund’s work and issue areas with these key target audiences
- Curate engaging and visual content for WPHF Instagram platform targeting private sector and general public audiences
- Support the continued expansion of WPHF newsletter channel and contact database
