As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you play a key role in how our operating rooms care for patients. Collaborating with the Manager, Lead Tech, Charge Tech and other Techs, you will ensure the organization and proper maintenance of a high-volume Sterile Processing Unit. In this role, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of operating the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and sterilization tools and concepts.
A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 5:30pm and 1 Saturday every 6 weeks from 8:00am to 1:00pm. No holidays required.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
- Provide case care management.
- Properly handle equipment, instruments and chemicals.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.
- Scan, sort, inspect and assemble, wrap and label instruments by instrument list as documented in the procedure.
- Perform record keeping.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) is required within 18 months after hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of Healthcare experience or a similar background in Mechanical/Manufacturing Assembly
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar considered
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
- Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
- Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
