- Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test software services to ensure optimal performance and capacity for growth.
- Own back-end data warehouse services, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, and infrastructure components to ensure services run without incident.
- Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the problems in real time in highly complex software systems.
- Serve as an escalation contact for service incidents.
- Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of next generation storage systems designed for HDD and Flash that are highly scalable and performant.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers and Product Managers to define project roadmap, set direction, align on milestones and drive project implementation.
- Develop observability strategies for responding to incidents that impact the storage systems availability and reliability in a timely manner to help provide a systematic and data-driven approach to ensure the reliability of storage systems.
- Define SLOs for the storage services and setup alerting to respond to production issues in a timely manner.
- Develop automation to help manage the lifecycle of servers, including automation tools for provisioning, maintenance, monitoring, remediation and decommissioning.
- Develop tools to help validate the storage systems for durability, correctness, performance and handling faults.
- This involves usage of tools like FIO, stress testing, and error injection frameworks.
- Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field and three years of work experience in job offered or computer-related occupation.
Requires three years of experience in the following: - 1. UNIX or Linux operating system fundamentals.
- 2. TCP/IP network fundamentals.
- 3. Coding in at least one of the following higher-level programming languages: PHP, Python, C++, or Java.
- 4. Software frameworks and APIs.
- 5. Performing 'guerilla capacity planning' for internet service architectures.
- 6. Internet service architectures (such as load balancing, LAMP, or CDN’s).
- 7. Configuring and maintaining applications using at least one of the following: web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems, or messaging systems.
- 8. Relational Databases including MySQL.
- 9. Network protocols including at least one of the following: NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP.
- 10. Maintaining web-based applications using at least one of the following: Apache, Memecached, or Squid.
- 11. Storage Systems including NFS.
- 12. Network Management tools like DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP.
- 13. Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues ranging from low-level hardware issues to large scale failures within datacenter clusters.
- 14. Experience utilizing high performance query engines (Presto or Spark) for big data.
