About the role

Job Description

As the Director, Technical Accounting, you will be responsible for analyzing new and emerging accounting and reporting rules facing the Company and overseeing the preparation of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting. You will research current rules for application to significant Company transactions as well as technical policy development and documentation. You will work closely with accounting and non-accounting team members to develop best practices, policies and methodologies that ensure high quality of service and proactively address assessment and implementation of accounting guidance and pronouncements. This position will report to the Vice President – SEC Reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of financial reports, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and other SEC filings, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Research technical accounting issues and draft accounting policies, maintaining an accounting policy repository, which includes distilling and summarizing complex accounting topics to enable users across functions to understand their application to our business
  • Partner with Corporate, Line of Business and International accounting leadership to drive global consistency
  • Monitoring, documenting, and implementing developments (including new standards) from the FASB, SEC, and PCAOB that could impact the Corporation’s accounting policies, practices, and disclosures
  • Performing research related to technical accounting and reporting matters and writing technical memorandums for transactions in such areas as revenue recognition under ASC 606, lease accounting under ASC 842, goodwill and intangible assets, purchase accounting, foreign currency, derivatives and hedging, and other matters
  • Act as a subject matter expert for complex accounting issues, providing a resource to Aramark to provide guidance and resolve reporting issues, including interpreting external technical accounting proposals and pronouncements
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure external financial statements are in accordance with GAAP and internal management reporting is consistent with established policies and procedures
  • Interacting and coordinating with personnel in various corporate functional areas, business areas, and other internal and external personnel (including independent auditors and external specialists) to support transactions and provide accounting and reporting guidance related to the Corporation’s accounting policies, Sarbanes-Oxley and relevant accounting literature
  • Assist in training, and developing the accounting team to build a deep technical knowledge in US GAAP and accounting policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience with “Big 4” Accounting firm or industry related experience in a technical accounting and/or consulting role
  • Deep technical knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and accounting theory, including experience documenting and researching technical accounting answers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Executive presence; ability to work effectively with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, utilizing strong written and oral communications
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a wide range of audiences including clients, front line managers, C-level leaders (headquarters and sector)
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Potential travel 0-10%
