Located in the AAA Five Diamond rated resort, The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, A.R. Valentien is a fine dining restaurant known for its exceptional seasonal cuisine, elegant atmosphere, and superior service. Executive Chef Kelli Crosson sources only the best local provisions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests dine in a timbered indoor-outdoor dining room overlooking the 18th hole of Torrey Pines Golf Course.

SUMMARY
The Food Server ("Mesero/a") position provides a courteous, timely and professional service in the restaurant, shows complete knowledge of all menus and pricing, as well as a proactive, customer-oriented attitude. Welcome our guests with a smile and with a friendly, courteous greeting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Cordially and professionally presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
- Employs suggestive selling techniques to stimulate sales.
- Actively observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
- Checks with the guest after 3-4 minutes after serving the meals, in order to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Follows cash and credit card handling policies at all times.
- Is responsible for entire section of tables (cleanliness, sanitation, organization, etc.).
- Is responsible for complete knowledge of menus, including cooking time, ingredients, etc.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
- Prior experience in a fine dining restaurant environment preferred.
- Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
