We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal or Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD.

Summary of Role:

As a Principal/Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer within the Software and Digital Technologies Organization you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program.

The selected candidate will be a part of a team focused on command and control software. This includes development of new software capabilities and the correction of software defects as well as significant support for integration and testing at the system and sub-system levels. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team oriented with a drive to mentor other engineers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Software developer on an agile scrum team focused on command and control of a maritime electronic warfare system

  • Develop software to implement new capabilities and identify and correct system defects.

  • Identify risks, suggest mitigation, track defects, develop resolutions, and report status.

  • Supporting agile planning and providing mentorship to the rest of the software engineers.

  • Support integration and test at the system and sub-system levels.

  • Develop and execute unit tests and build verification test plans, and track and report test status.

  • Work in a sub system lab environment to demonstrate successful software changes

  • Support occasional travel to a system integration facility in Wallops Island, VA to demonstrate and test full system functionality.

  • Actively participate in technical peer reviews to ensure system/software requirements are being met from an end-to-end system point of view.

This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance or the successful transfer of an Active DoD Interim/Secret clearance prior to start.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer:

Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, master’s degree with 3 years of experience, Ph.D. with 1 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • U.S Citizenship is required

  • The ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

  • 5 years of experience working on embedded software systems using C++

  • 3 years of experience writing software for RADAR or Electronic Warfare systems

  • 3 years of experience operating lab equipment (Spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.)

  • 5 years of experience with Linux Operating Systems

  • 5 years of experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance is required

  • 3 years of experience successfully integrating software with hardware
