Sr. Software Developer - Annuity Administration Platforms

We are currently working in a Hybrid Work Model, in the office each Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote the remaining three business days of the week. We are open to hiring at either our Des Moines, IA or West Chester, PA office locations.
Principle Responsibilities:
Work with drive, determination, and flexibility to define, design, implement, validate, maintain, and support system elements to satisfy product roadmaps and release plans.
Provide coaching and mentoring to teammates, in areas of technical or domain expertise.
Collaborate with users, SMEs, and technical stakeholders to develop adequate feature stories, user stories, and acceptance criteria / usage scenarios to deliver effective, useful software.
Ensure technical approaches align with architectural blueprints and approved firm practices.
Contribute expertise and estimates to help define and schedule product releases / deliverables.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and practice reviews.
Participate in documentation of team patterns, standards, technical approaches.
Engage in appropriate SCM, CI, CD, automated testing, and other DevSecOps practices.
Create and maintain unit and BDD test harnesses, snippets, and scenarios.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
Assist with ongoing DevSecOps activities.
Participate in L2+ support for team products and systems.
Participate in ongoing operational and practice improvements.
Coordinate with offshore resources and governance over the deliverables
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Non-Technical Skills/Qualifications
Experience specifically in Annuity Administration systems, insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industry is required.
Demonstrates effective communication skills; writes and speaks clearly; presents ideas understandably; uses appropriate channels for audience and subject matter
Exhibits efficient and effective documentation skills; recognizes and achieves “just enough” documentation, leveraging content-suitable mediums and mechanisms such as wikis, pictures, diagrams, schema, models, …
Has strong analytical capabilities and asks questions to gather additional information
Can understand the big picture and how individual details fit into it
Appreciates the distinction between objectives and artifacts, and can set aside nonessentials to focus on critical-path work
Anticipates potential obstacles and develops contingency plans to overcome them
Possesses an Agile mindset
Experience in insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industry is highly desirable
Experience specifically in Annuity Admin systems is highly desirable
Technical Skills/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred
5+ years professional experience developing enterprise-class multi-tiered/multi-platform Applications
Proficiency with C and at least one of the following languages is required: Oracle PL/SQL, Linux shell Scripting, PowerBuilder is required
Understanding/use of CORBA is highly desirable
Practical experience with Oracle is preferred.
Practical experience with JSON is desirable
Proficiency with Git is required; experience with GitHub enterprise preferred
Practical experience with Jenkins Pipelines/Groovy scripting is desirable
