Job Title: CDL Spotter Driver/ Forklift Driver
Starting Pay Rate: $23.50(after 3 months $24.00, after 6 months $24.50
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, with mandatory overtime as needed
Reports To: Shipping Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Spotter Driver to join our team. This role primarily drives a forklift, loading and unloading shipments, but also drives our spotter truck to our sister plant which is approximately 1 mile away. The ideal candidate hold CDL driver’s license, has experience driving sit down forklift, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
• Operates a forklift to move and hoist shipments from platform to storage or work areas.
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoice, orders, or other records.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Completes documentation required by the dept
• Drives the box truck and holds a CDL Driver's License.
• Works inside and outside moving product.
• Must change 45-pound propane cylinder on back of forklift once per shift;
Shift is 8 hours. May work overtime up to 10-12 hours. Two 10-minute breaks/ shift and 20-minute meal break. Employees get paid the entire time they are clocked in and do not clock out for breaks, if taken on campus!
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid CDL driver's license.
• Must be certified in forklift
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a team setting
Physical Demands:
• Occasionally lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds), though most lifting involves less than 10 pounds
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach above head and below shoulder level, and communicate effectively
• Climbing in and out of forklift and spotter truck
• Operators work on all shifts and at night. Operator must be able to see in the dark and in times of reduced light. Vision requirement is 20/40 with correction
• Ability to work in a non- climate-controlled environment
Work Environment:
• The work environment is representative of conditions typical for a manufacturing facility. Guardian West is not a climate-controlled facility. Safety precautions must always be followed to reduce exposure to hazards
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and loud environments
• Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration
