JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Security Services Office of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking an experienced Security Specialist. ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

You will:
Assist with the development and management of advanced industrial security practices, procedures, processes, trainings, and briefings, while ensuring compliance with government policies and regulations
Provide agile, efficient, exemplary security support and outstanding customer service to all organizational groups and personnel in a fast-paced, complex, and rapidly evolving environment
Coordinate or oversee the management of advanced security programs such as Communications Security (COMSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Personnel Security (PerSec), counterintelligence, insider threat program management, and/or physical security systems such as electronic access control, alarm, and CCTV systems
Work autonomously in a very busy and highly service-driven environment
Prepare for and represent ARL in all aspects of security inspections and oversight by U.S. government (USG) agencies
This position will be filled as a level 4 or level 5 depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience. Typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 4. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
Required skills and experience include:
Knowledge of Communications Security (COMSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Personnel Security (PerSec), counterintelligence, insider threat program management, and/or physical security systems such as electronic access control, alarm, and CCTV systems are required
Handling of classified materials
Microsoft Office software, databases, and web applications
Service-oriented team-player with polished interpersonal and office skills
Excellent written and verbal communications
High attention to detail
The ability to work autonomously and effectively in fast-paced environment
