About the Role:

Supervises and directs the workflow of the staff to ensure that objectives are being met in a timely manner. Supports internal and external customers. Manages day to day activities. Identifies opportunities to streamline processes and procedures. Supervises and supports critical accounting, finance, reporting, and/or related functions. Provides guidance, training, motivation, and work scheduling for staff. Supports Manager and/or Director as appropriate. Mentors and develops staff.

What You'll Do:

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of department procedures, systems and critical issues.

  • Handles issues affecting daily performance, communicating with other departments and outside sources as required to resolve issues. Escalates to management as needed.

  • Provides upper management and other departments with accurate, timely, and useful communications, including reports and analysis to enable them to make appropriate decisions.

  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with other departments, internal and external customers.

  • Oversees the documentation of departmental policies and procedures and supervises activities to ensure the policies and procedures are adhered to.

  • Ensures that staff productivity is monitored and maintained at an acceptable level such that work is completed accurately, procedures are being followed and deadlines are being met.

  • Ensures that staff receives developmental training in order to improve their competencies or build strengths.

  • Assists Manager in staff supervision: Provides comprehensive input on periodic staff reviews, maintains employee records, conducts established performance plans and developmental activities for individuals on the team, assists in hiring and training new personnel and makes recommendations for additional training.

  • Manages the daily influx of business related to peak times and adjusts staff accordingly to meet Service Level Agreements.

  • Monitors goals and key performance indicators.

  • Develops and maintains monthly reporting.

  • Analyzes metrics to measure performance and identify opportunities.

  • Serves as liaison to other departments in developing and/or administering strategies. Supports other departments with ad-hoc projects and special investigations.

  • Takes ownership of and/or works on special projects as assigned.

  • Assists in formulating ideas that will lead to process improvements.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned

  • Meets attendance and punctuality standards

What We're Looking For:

  • Accounting or Business degree required.

  • 3-5 years experience leading and developing a team required.

  • Currently pursuing CPA preferred.

  • Self-directed, able to achieve objectives with minimal management input.

  • Capable of directing others to reach objectives effectively.

  • Responsible for specific areas and interacts with various groups.

  • Holds previous experience or an advanced degree in the relevant job area.

  • Proficient in assigning duties and resources as necessary to achieve success.

  • Skilled in analyzing data to recommend effective business solutions.

  • Capable of identifying new sources of business data.

  • Able to forecast the impact of each solution and implement the best one.

  • Proficient in measuring impact post-implementation and adapting solutions as necessary.

  • Quick to react to changing needs, meet SLAs, and manage staff workload accordingly.

  • Ensures processes are well controlled and identifies opportunities for process improvements.

  • Understands corporate department objectives and functions.

  • Knowledgeable in Intermediate/Advanced Excel, Intermediate/Advanced Access (preferred), and Intermediate PowerPoint (preferred).

  • Generally manages team members performing similar tasks, including both exempt and non-exempt staff.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Adaptable to change with high decision quality, professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to recognize and reward team members.

  • Capable of hiring, developing, and retaining talent, as well as effectively managing employee relations issues.

  • Demonstrates leadership and self-assuredness.

  • Requires a high level of "self-starting" thinking for analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and drawing conclusions/solutions; involves high complexity of mental processes to achieve role objectives.
