The Data Analyst/Report Writer will support the development and enhancement of applications, transforming data into information that can be utilized to make business decisions and actions. Their work involves acquiring data from other sources, creating reports on a regular basis, correcting any code issues, and ensuring that databases remain error-free and organized. This position will perform senior level consultative services and technical assistance work in the area of DSHS analysis for program related activities. Work involves analyzing DSHS priority initiatives and special projects utilizing business analysis best practices in coordination with agency business and technical units.

Responsibilities

• Perform data profiling to uncover data issues and translate to cleansing tasks.
• Design and automate processes to identify and validate data issues in collaboration with SMEs.
• Design and automate monitoring of ongoing data quality and cleanup activity.
• Generate data quality assessment and weekly statistical reports.
• Conduct root cause analysis for data anomalies.
• Define data quality rules and cleansing strategies.
• Collaborate with agency technical and business teams to determine data requirements and ensure efficient integration of data-driven solutions into program operations.
• Provide actionable recommendations to align projects with organizational objectives.
• Collect, assess, analyze, and research data requirements to meet DSHS project and program needs.
• Develop tools and frameworks to improve data analysis processes and optimize DSHS operational efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to data management best practices and standards, maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
• Diagnose and correct coding or logic errors within reporting systems or applications.
• Continuously improve the quality and efficiency of data and reporting processes.
• Work directly with stakeholders and technical staff to understand data needs and provide relevant insights. Translate complex data insights into clear and actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
• As a member of the team, participate in requirements analysis, high-level and detailed design, development, testing and deployment of new application components, as required.
• Participate in program design, coding and test walk-through meetings to provide input regarding technical standards and customer requirements.
• Exercise extensive latitude for independent judgment in evaluating initiatives, solving problems, and delivering solutions that enhance operations.

Qualifications

• 8 years’ experience showing ability to research, gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts to devise solutions to problems and prepare concise reports. Ability to analyze and solve complex and difficult problems while prioritizing information and issues.
• 8 years’ experience with transforming raw data into actionable information for business decision-making. Skilled in developing and presenting reports that identify technology gaps and operational inefficiencies to executive stakeholders.
• 8 years’ experience in developing or contributing to the creation of as-is and to-be data models to identify opportunities for greater operational efficiencies.
• 8 years’ experience in mapping data effectively and identifying areas for improvement. Capable of establishing benchmarks and developing frameworks for operational trend analysis and performance measurement.
• 8 years’ experience analyzing data policies and procedures to assess their impact on automated systems and functional areas.
• 8 years’ experience in acquiring data from various sources, creating regular reports, and performing deep analyses of trends and correlations. Skilled in developing metadata, tables, and user interfaces to deliver clear and actionable reports for business users.
• 8 years’ experience in using creativity and advanced reporting tools (specialty reporting tools) to define and develop data reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
