Production Set Up Operator

Job Summary:

Sets up and operates all roll forming mills to form stock material to different retainer cross sections specified by the work order or print.

Essential Functions:
Illustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, one or more of the following:

• Complete work instruction sheet and insure all paperwork is available and prior 
operations are signed off.
• Read work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of 
operations for machine setup. 
• Confer with other workers about machine setups and operational specifications. 
• Measure and inspect roll formed parts to ensure conformance to product specifications.
• Start machines to produce sample workpieces, and observe operations to detect 
machine malfunctions and to verify that machine setups conform to specifications. 
• Correctly document all required production data (i.e work instructions sheets, 
identification tags, and data entry labor transactions.)
• Make adjustments as needed to produce conforming parts.
• Run production 
• Insure all safety guarding is in proper working order.
• Perform preventative and general maintenance on machinery
• Clean machines and work area.
• Due to the use of onsite equipment attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to six months related 
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer Skills: Basic Computer Skills
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift Operator (where required), 
lockout/tagout authorized. Basic Statistical Process Control.

• Specialized Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret blue prints. Read basic 
measuring devices including micrometers and calipers.
• Safety training at all levels.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance 
instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in 
written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete 
variables in standardized situations.

• Ability to talk and hear
• Vision – clear, close, mid distances, depth perception, color, peripheral and ability to 
focus.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly
• Walking - frequently
• Using hands to finger, handle, or feel - almost continuously
• Reaching with hands and arms - almost continuously

Working Conditions:
• Work near moving mechanical parts - frequently
• Fumes or airborne particles - frequently
• Moderate noise – almost continuously
• Loud noise - frequently

Success Factors:
Ability and knowledge of production machinery to create a safe work environment. Capability to 
multitask and the versatility to work on different machines.
