SUMMARY:

The Sr Manager, Lab IT is responsible for leading the lab-based IT team at Lundbeck’s Bothell, WA site and executing IT activities across Lundbeck’s two US lab sites in Bothell and La Jolla, CA. In this player – coach role you and your team will implement, upgrade and continuously manage and improve IT solutions, mainly within Lab IT, in close collaboration with the Headquarters Lab IT team in Copenhagen, to support lab activities happening both at the Lundbeck CMC Biologics Center of Excellence in Bothell, WA, and at the Lundbeck La Jolla Research Center.

Additionally, the role will act as a liaison between the US Lab IT team and its stakeholders across US sites to proactively identify process improvement initiatives to enhance the governance structure and the overall customer experience. There will be a great opportunity for influencing the future governance structure, the collaboration across the IT organization and for developing the team and the processes even further.

The position is based in Bothell with direct reporting to Lundbeck headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads and directs the US IT Lab Support team maximizing team productivity and cohesiveness.
  • Responsible for structure, communication and alignment of the US IT deliverables roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Execute Lab IT upgrades, projects and maintenance activities in collaboration with a variety of internal stakeholders (IT, scientists, management, system owners etc.) as well as external vendors.
  • Plan and execute activities to maintain the IT software and hardware landscape to serve the Bothell site users
  • Maintain alignment with the global IT team, including project managers, Solution Architects and local IT staff to ensure compliance with global IT guidelines and SOPs.
  • Be an ambassador for structure and for adhering to existing documentation practice. To some extent act as a Solution Architect.
  • Responsible to facilitate and further strengthen the prioritization process of projects / tasks in close collaboration with the local management teams to ensure the right focus.
  • Partner with local stakeholders to provide thought leadership to recommend innovative technology solutions including updates to existing technology policies, procedures, and training.
  • Develop strong understanding of needs for laboratory staff by developing excellent working relationships and through frequent communication.
  • Partner with global IT and support functions to ensure enforcement and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Identify, evaluate and communicate operational trends and metrics that contribute to data driven decision-making across all levels of the organization.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of information technology (IT) experience
  • Prior people-leadership experience
  • Prior Lab IT experience with electronic systems (such as ELN, LIMS, SDMS or other related systems) used in labs within a biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • Prior Lab IT experience integrating Lab equipment with electronic systems
  • Proficient in Windows/Office 365, Apple iOS, MS Visio and other tools
  • Proficient in documenting solution designs and system documentation
  • Prior broad experience with various IT technologies within server operations, IT security, networks, communication, backup etc.
  • Prior vendor management experience
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting data
  • Customer-focused, team player with a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for various levels of stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience while working with others
  • Prior experience leading or supporting user-experience initiatives
